Highlands sees five new coronavirus infections

FIVE new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours.
The cumulative number of people who have tested positive for the virus in the area since the start of the pandemic increased to 494 overnight, the Scottish Government's latest daily update revealed. The figure was up from 489 on Sunday.
Across Scotland, 70 new cases were confirmed in the past day. This is markedly down on more recent daily updates, but the Scottish Government warned that this figure "may not reflect the total number of new cases" after flagging up that test data from some UK testing centres was late.
Some 264 people were being treated in hospital last night having previously tested positive for the virus. Of those, seven were in intensive care.
There have been 22,749 positive tests in Scotland since the coronavirus pandemic first struck.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases reported in Shetland, Orkney or the Western Isles.
NHS Grampian, meanwhile, recorded six new cases to take its cumulative tally to 2017, and NHS Tayside added a single fresh diagnosis for a running total of 2209 to date.
