NHS Highland health board area sees 16 more Covid-19 cases on Monday

SIXTEEN further Covid-19 infections have been detected across the NHS Highland health board region, it has been confirmed.
The number of cases detected in the area since the start of the pandemic rose from 874 to 890 in the past day.
The rise came as another 993 positive tests were recorded across Scotland in the past 24 hours. However, as with Sunday's lower than expected daily total, the Scottish Government has warned that the national figure may be affected by knock-on disruption from processing delays at the weekend. These were caused by a "capacity issue" in the UK NHS testing system.
Elsewhere, there was a sharp rise in the number of people receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, which jumped by 51 to 754 in the past day.
Of those, some 61 people were in intensive care – down one from the previous day.
And sadly one more person has died from the virus after testing positive.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, NHS Grampian recorded another 27 positive tests in the past day, to take its cumulative number of cases to 2962.
And NHS Tayside's overall tally rose to 2276 following the detection of a further 49 confirmed cases.
But the island health boards of NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland and NHS Orkney all recorded no fresh cases overnight.
