A Dunbeath-based publishing company has just produced two new wildlife books which are now for sale.

On Foot in the African Bush: Adventures with Safari Guides by Jeff Williams is priced £18.99 with 176 pages, 60 photographs and seven diagrams with colour throughout.

This book is described as an "enthralling read featuring a treasure trove of true stories" from the African bush, often recounted during evenings sitting around a campfire. The collection of stories is gathered from safari guides by the author and include angry elephants, charging lions and cantankerous buffaloes.

The book is a study of animal behaviour in response to perceived threats.

A Biologist Abroad by Rory Putman is priced at £16.99 with 148 pages and an eight-page colour section.

This features the diaries of a working biologist and records not only his impressions of the countries he visited and their people but also includes some of his reflections as a keen naturalist. It gives readers an introduction to the various countries and their wildlife from a very personal perspective.

Described are the the author’s adventures in Iceland, East Africa, Nigeria and Indonesia from the late 1960s to the late 1990s.

This title is a travelogue as seen through the eyes of a professional biologist.
