Youngsters throughout Caithness and north Sutherland are settling into school as primary one pupils, proudly wearing the school uniforms and displaying lots of smiles for the camera as they start their educational journey. Here is an expanded version of our P1 gallery.

In a class of his own is Tobi Knight, the only new entrant at Dunbeath school this session.

The new P1 class at Halkirk Primary School is a boy zone.
