Councillors reject plans for an 88-place Elgin nursery.

PLANS for an 88-place nursery and nine homes in Elgin have been refused.

Liberty Kids had hoped to create the facility on land to the north of the town at Woodlands, off Roseisle Drive.

At a special meeting of Moray Council’s planning and regulatory services committee today, members voted five to three against the proposal because of road safety concerns.

That went against a recommendation from planning officers that the development be approved.

Members, who visited the site, heard 146 representations were received by the authority over the proposal, including a 79-signature petition against the plan. For more on the debate, read next week’s ‘Northern Scot’.
