A BODY has been found on a shoreline of the Black Isle, police have confirmed.

The man’s body was discovered by a member of the public between Avoch and Fortrose at around 11.45am today (Monday).

Officers attended at the scene and inquiries are now ongoing to establish the man’s identity.

A police spokesman said: "The body appears to have been in the water for some time. There are no further details at this time."

It is the third body to be washed up on the same stretch of shoreline in the past 14 months.

The body of missing Calum Stout (40), of Milton, Inverness, was discovered near the sewage works at Avoch in February last year by a man walking his dog.

Just five days later the body of missing Inverness man Michael MacLennan (48) was found on the beach at Avoch.
