National Vaccination Portal to go live at start of next week

Scotland's National Vaccination Portal is set to go live at the start of next week.

It will allow people to book an appointment for a Covid-19 booster or third-dose vaccine and their flu jab at any available clinic in Scotland.

NHS Highland says that due to the unique geography of the region, and its blended model of vaccinations, "we are recommending you only use the portal if your GP is not participating in the Covid-19 vaccination programme".

This is to make the best use of clinic capacity, as participating GPs will have already planned appointments for their patients.

Residents in the NHS Highland area will be able to register on the portal from Monday (November 15) but they will be unable to book an appointment within the board area at this stage.

For those living in the Highland Council area, depending on which GP practice they are registered with, patients will be contacted by their practice or NHS Highland to be invited for a Covid booster/third dose or flu vaccine.

NHS Highland will be adding available appointments to the portal beginning in Inverness from the week beginning November 22 and will be adding more availability in other locations within the board area in the coming weeks.

"However, in remote and rural areas the most suitable delivery model is likely to remain clinics with direct appointments to ensure clinic capacity is used most effectively," it says.
