A Caithness mother has admitted having wilfully neglected her four-year-old daughter.

The woman was said to have done so in a manner likely to cause her unnecessary suffering or injury to her health by shouting and swearing at her and failing to seek medical attention for multiple injuries the child sustained.

The offence occurred between April 19, 2021, and May 19, 2021, Wick Sheriff Court heard last week.

The mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also admitted a record of offending. She is represented by solicitor Josey Donnachie.

Sheriff Krista Johnson called for a background report which she will consider prior to sentencing on May 25.

The sheriff also requested a restriction-of-liberty assessment on the accused.
