The initial appeal had been issued yesterday after the 20-year-old had been last seen at her home address in Bower at around 10pm on Wednesday.

Sergeant James Munro, of Wick community policing, had said it was "completely out of character for Ella to go missing".

Police, believed to be from Wick, with tracker dogs were seen by a witness combing through rough ground close to the Norscot showroom in Bower at around 4pm yesterday. Officers were also seen searching near forestry at Lyth yesterday afternoon.

The Police Scotland statement concluded by saying: "Officers would like to thank the public for their help with this enquiry."
