The Mey Highland Games celebrates its unofficial 50th Anniversary on Saturday, August 6, having missed out on the actual anniversary in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Plans are well underway for the event, sponsored by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and DSRL, and fingers are crossed for the good weather that saw bumper crowds attend the last games in 2019.

Chair of the Games Committee, Andrew Sinclair said: "We are delighted that this year's games can go ahead and once again a lot of hard work is going on behind the scenes.

"We are being joined this year by the Wounded Highlanders and we can't wait to see them in action. The Military Wives Choir are joining us again and we have lots of other entertainment, stalls and of course the main events in the ring.

"I look forward to welcoming His Royal Highness, the Duke of Rothesay back after our two year absence."

Mey Games returns this year after cancellations due to Covid in 2020 and 2021. A new Mey Games tartan has been produced and will be officially launched at the event on August 6.

Games convener, Henry Gunn added: "We have commissioned a Mey Games tartan that will be officially launched and available to buy on the day. Brandon McPhee has written a tune for us and he will be there to play it – we are looking forward to the day immensely.

"Please come along and support us if you can."

The games field will open at 10am on Saturday, August 6.
