Mart Prices – Quoybrae, Aberdeen and Northern Marts

QUOYBRAE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts, on August 30, sold 4137 prime and store sheep, feeding ewes and rams.

Prime lambs (650) averaged 219.1p per kg to 237p for a pen of 46kg Suffolk from Greenland Mains, Castletown and £124 gross for a 67kg Black Suffolk X from Borgie Mains, Castletown.

Ewe lambs (436) averaged £67.46 to £122 for Cheviots from Hillside, Killimster (Miller).

Store lambs (1695) averaged £78.26 to £101 for Suffolks from Curlew, Mybster.

Feeding ewes and rams (1356) averaged £82.52 to £180 for Texels from Bardnaclavan, Bridge of Westfield.

“A very respectable 650 prime lambs were forward today at Quoybrae which were highly sought after with a full ringside of buyers present.

"Store lambs followed the exceptional trade of the last sale.

"A fantastic average was achieved in the ewe ring with many hill sorts being forward surpassing the £70 mark. A strong show of heavy continental ewes were present and many more could have been sold.”
