Man who drove over cliff at Duncansby Head named

THE identity of the man whose body was recovered after his car drove off a cliff at Duncansby Head has been released by Police.

Stephen Groody (48) from John O'Groats was named by Police Scotland on Friday night.

Emergency services were notified that a car had been spotted at the bottom of the cliff, where it was estimated to have plunged 200ft.

The Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit recovered his body on Thursday morning and his body was transported back to Wick Harbour by RNLI crew.

Rescue teams were unable to retrieve the car as it had moved into deep water.

Police Scotland have said there are no suspicious circumstances.
