Man ‘on shoogly peg’ jailed over breach of community order

A Wick man who failed to take the chance he was given has been jailed for three months.

The man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, previously admitted a charge of child neglect but breached the community order imposed.

In a plea to Sheriff Neil Wilson, at Wick, on Wednesday, Solicitor Fiona MacDonald accepted that the accused should have attended his work appointments but appealed for a further opportunity to allow him to do so.

Miss MacDonald said: “My client is aware his jacket is on a shoogly peg.”

Her appeal failed to convince Sheriff Wilson, who said he recalled the accused’s case and added: “He was given a clear warning that if he didn’t comply fully with the order, a prison alternative would be imposed.”

The community service order was revoked.
