A Wick man has been jailed for a year on charges of possessing a knuckle-duster, bail breaches and disorderly conduct.
Steven Bruce (45) pleaded guilty at the town’s sheriff court on Wednesday and admitted an extensive record.
He was previously made subject to an unpaid work order for possession of the knuckle-duster on September 25, but had breached the order.
Bruce, of Waverley Road, Wick, also admitted disorderly conduct in Glamis Road, Wick, when he called on his former partner, Robyn Miller, on May 28 to retrieve some of his belongings after they split up. He also breached a bail condition banning him from entering the street.
Solicitor Patrick O’Dea said that Bruce had the prospect of a job at Nigg and appealed to the sheriff saying: “You may feel that he has reached the end of the road but he is willing to complete his unpaid work and would appreciate one final chance.”
Solicitor Fiona MacDonald, who appeared for Bruce on some of the charges, referred to difficulties he had in his life, particularly the abuse of alcohol, and added that he was engaging with a supervision order, previously imposed.
Sheriff Andrew Berry commented that a knuckle-duster had only one use and jailed Bruce for six months. He imposed a further period of six months imprisonment for the Glamis Road offences, both periods to run consecutively.
Bruce admitted a record which included convictions for assault to severe injury and bail breaches. He was further said to have an allegation of fire-raising pending.
