The co-founders and creators of Rock Rose Gin and Holy Grass Vodka are celebrating Mother’s Day in style.

Dunnet Bay Distillery – the UK’s most northern mainland distillery – is run by Claire and Martin Murray, and they will be

serving some deliciously thoughtful cocktails to celebrate this Mothering Sunday.

For their own mothers they will be serving recipes containing Rock Rose Spring Edition – one of several seasonal and signature gins in their range.

Claire’s mother Margaret, the distillery’s production supervisor, loves citrus flavours. She will be served a Lime in the Coconut cocktail which incorporates 50ml of the spring edition gin with its coconut/gorse notes along with a couple of drops of the distillery's own coriander and lime liquid garnish, 25ml fresh lime juice, 50ml coconut water and 10-25ml simple syrup to taste.

While Martin’s mother Lynne, loves elderflower. Martin explained: “It’s too early in the year for fresh elderflowers of course, but my mum loves the taste and so for her it has to be an Elderflower and Herb Gin Fizz."

This is a nod to a classic gin fizz taken to the next level with elderflower and rosemary notes. It includes 50ml of the spring edition gin, 30ml elderflower liqueur, 20ml elderflower cordial, 20ml fresh lemon juice a sprig of fresh rosemary and soda water.

A tip given for this cocktail is to think ahead during the season and freeze mini-sprigs of rosemary with fresh elderflowers in ice

cubes or ice balls so that you have garnishes available at any time of year.

As a mother herself, Claire will be taking a break from helping to run the business whilst home-schooling three children. She’ll be dropping a strong hint that Martin should pour her a Salted Caramel Martini using their own Holy Grass Vodka Coffee Edition.

An elegant twist on an espresso Martini it requires 50ml Coffee Holy Grass Vodka, 20ml caramel syrup, 25ml Frangelico liquer and 10ml simple syrup.
