The past 18 months have been challenging for everyone, but children and young people have been among the hardest hit.

For those young people who already face serious challenges in life due to illness or a disability, it has been even harder. To recognise and celebrate the courage of our youngsters, Highland Heroes 2022 will present the brave child award.

The winner will be a child who has overcome extreme adversity or shown exceptional courage or bravery.

Sponsoring the brave child award for 2022 is Inverness solicitors and estate agents, Macleod & MacCallum.

Peter Mason, director at Macleod & MacCallum, said: “We are delighted to once again support Highland Heroes, and in particular the brave child of the year award.

“There are so many brave children in our community who face unrelenting challenges and adversity in their young lives. The nominations for the brave child award are always so inspiring and humbling, and of course the past 18 months have been even more challenging for our children and young people as their lives have been severely disrupted during the pandemic.”

Alison Martin, also a director at the legal firm added: “Everyone at Macleod & MacCallum, would encourage everybody to get behind Highland Heroes 2022 and support this important campaign. Please nominate a brave child in your community.

“They deserve to be celebrated for battling through their difficulties in these unprecedented times, and being nominated is a recognition of what they have achieved in their young lives.”
