Leap to success in 2024 for Wick-based gymnastics club as it seeks sponsors
A Wick-based gymnastics club says that 2024 is shaping up to be its most successful year so far and is now looking for sponsors.
Over the past six months, several coaches with North Apex Gymnastics Club (NAGC) have attended coaching exams and the club now has another seven Level 1 assistant coaches, four Level 2 coaches and four Preschool coaches. This has allowed the club to attend and host more events than previously.
In March, the competitive squad gymnasts attended two regional competitions, taking home many individual and team medals along with ribbons.
In June, the club held its second summer show in Wick’s Assembly Rooms, which allowed all members to perform routines in front of friends and family. The audience of over 340 clapped and cheered as the gymnasts performed a variety of tumbles, dances and balances.
Over the summer holidays, the club had over 770 bookings for its programme of summer classes which were available to both members and non-members. For ages 2+, it allowed children to be introduced to gymnastics and improve coordination, balance and gymnastics skills whilst having fun with friends.
It has been a busy year for the NAGC display team and its members will be attending two big events. In September, they are attending the Blackpool Ministrada festival held in the Blackpool Tower. The team of 31 gymnasts aged 5 to 17 will perform a group routine on a 12x12m floor, showcasing their tumbles, balances and choreography.
In November, NAGC will perform at the Sapphire Birthday Festival in Glasgow. The team attended this event for the first time last year and won the most prestigious award of “Friendliest Club”. The strong team of gymnasts, coaches and parents have been busy fundraising over the year to make the travel and accommodation costs for these events as affordable as possible.
To round off the year, the coaches are busy planning NAGC’s Christmas competition.
Held for the first time last year, it invites all club members to take part in an in-house competition and provides another opportunity for all gymnasts to showcase their gymnastics skills and talents to friends and families.
This year, the club is looking for organisations to sponsor the event by providing a trophy or shield for the winner of each class category. If you are interested in sponsoring this event, or any other events, please contact the club at: apexgymnasticswick@gmail.com
