Landslide road in Wick being assessed by council

Highland Council said it is assessing Harbour Road in Wick after yesterday's landslide and hopes it will soon reopen with a controlled traffic flow.

A council spokesperson confirmed that it was one of its workers who first reported the issue yesterday afternoon.

The spokesperson said: “The Harbour Road in Wick was closed following a landslip. The slip was reported at 14:40 Sunday 24 January by a Highland Council employee and the road was closed at 15:00.

"An engineering assessment will be undertaken today (25 January) with the anticipation that road will reopen under a controlled traffic flow, i.e. traffic lights. Highland Council Roads and Transport will be undertaking the works and coordinating with the landowner for possible remedial works.”
