Landslide closes road in Wick

A landslide occurred near Wick harbour this afternoon (Sunday, January 24) and led to the closure of a road for safety reasons.

Harbour Road is closed off to traffic.

Police attended the scene on Harbour Road this afternoon, at around 3pm, in which a sizeable amount of earth fell down and blocked one side of the road.

A slight thaw in the morning and afternoon may be responsible for waterlogged ground to detach from the brae above.

Highland Council has been made aware of the issue.
