Landslide closes road in Wick

A landslide occurred near Wick harbour this afternoon (Sunday, January 24) and led to the closure of a road for safety reasons.

Police attended the scene on Harbour Road this afternoon, at around 3pm, in which a sizeable amount of earth fell down and blocked one side of the road.

Harbour Road in Wick is currently closed to traffic.

A large mound of soil fell on to the road and police attended the scene at around 3pm today (Sunday, January 24).

A mass of earth has fallen on to Harbour Road and the top and bottom of the road have been coned off.

A slight thaw in the morning and afternoon may be responsible for waterlogged ground to detach from the brae above.

Highland Council has been made aware of the issue.
