KC to help challenge sex charges denied by Caithness man

A man who made a name for himself selling racing tips is consulting a King’s Counsel in his bid to challenge allegations of a sexual nature.

Kevin Booth (64) was snowed in at his remote home, Lochdhu Lodge, Alnabreac, and unable to make a further appearance at Wick Sheriff Court, on Wednesday.

The court heard that preparations for his forthcoming trial were continuing and that the defence was due to speak to KC Brian McConnachie, said to be currently engaged in a High Court trial.

Booth denies directing a sexual communication towards a woman without her consent, by engaging in a sexualised conversation with her and asking her intimate questions of a sexual nature and offering her money to engage in sexual activity with him.

The allegations, which Booth denies, are said to have taken place between August 8 and December 9, 2022, at the accused’s 130-year-old home.

His trial date has been fixed for April 1.
