A farm union employee has received an award after helping to recruit more than 30 new members in the north Highlands.

Group secretary Jonathan Hogg, from the Dingwall and Thurso offices of NFU Scotland, collected the Membership Flame at a packed union roadshow event in Dingwall. The accolade recognises outstanding efforts in recruitment and retention of members.

The award was announced in February at the union's AGM but its presentation was delayed because of Covid-19.

Union president Martin Kennedy and regional chairman Cameron Maciver were pleased to present the award in person to Jonathan in front of more than 60 members.

Along with his colleague Graham Laing, Jonathan recruited 32 new members for the Ross-shire, Sutherland and Caithness branches in 2021 – "an outstanding achievement", according to the union, and all the more impressive given the challenges of working through Covid restrictions.
