JESSICA Simmons and her dad Frank, from Thurso, saddled up to do a sponsored bike ride to raise money for Red Nose Day.

Jessica, a pupil in Miller Academy primary 5/6, had only ever cycled seven miles before but she was determined to cycle from Thurso to Reay and back.

This was a total of 24 miles in strong wind and temperatures of 2.5 degrees centigrade. Jessica’s mum, Debbie, said: "I think it’s an amazing achievement and we’re so proud of Jessica."

The bike ride raised £515 for Comic Relief.
