Caithness FM's annual Toy Appeal will this year help give a gift to more than 300 disadvantaged children across the county.

Gifts are collected from around the area and are delivered to the social work department at the Highland Council offices in Wick, where they are organised for delivery.

This year, the CFM elves were concerned that people would not be able to help as much due to the restrictions and the impact of Covid on the community.

However, company secretary Jackie Johnson said: "Well, we were wrong! The fantastic people of Caithness really out-did themselves this year. So many people, too many to mention individually, came forward and offered help – help that means over 300 children will smile this Christmas morning.

"We wish we lived in a world where this kind of help was not necessary but we are so proud to be part of a community that cares enough to make a difference. Thank you all, each and every one."

Ms Johnson said those who helped at collection points at Wick Tesco, House of Haugh, Bank of Scotland (Wick and Thurso), Serendipity, Semi Chem, the Royal British Legion Thurso and the Bay Inn Dunbeath deserved particular thanks.

The CFM Toy Appeal is not part of the MFR Cash For Kids and is done purely to benefit children in the Caithness area.
