Amateur video clips on a seasonal theme are being sought for what promises to be a spectacular art project in Caithness this winter.

It is being organised by the team at Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) and is being described as a drive-through festive experience for all the family to enjoy.

Through a projection mapping installation, the project will seek to share the county's winter and Christmas history.

Projected onto the LAC Artists' House, it will use archive material and animation with audio and text. It is hoped that contemporary footage from the Caithness community will be part of it.

In a statement, LAC said: "Do you have happy memories of last Christmas captured in a mobile phone video? Maybe you’ve got some film of parties past? Or perhaps an old home movie of a winter white-out in the county?

"Whether you’re a smartphone photographer, Nativity play director, a long-time hobbyist or just got that one amazing shot of Aunty Sue dropping the Christmas pudding last year – we want to see your films!

"We’re looking for good-quality, high-resolution films which don’t need to have audio. They also don’t need to be slick and professional. Unfortunately we can only accept digital submissions."

The videos and images will be edited together with archive footage to create a short film. The film will then be projected outdoors at Lyth.

Video files should be sent using Filemail – details of this are on the LAC website.

The deadline is Monday, November 16.
