Highlands sees 11 new Covid cases in last 24 hours

More than 100 cases of Covid-19 have been detected in the NHS Highland area in just over two weeks.
And 11 of those cases were reported in the past 24 hours, it has been revealed.
The cumulative number of cases in the region since the start of the pandemic rose to 512 when the latest daily update was published this afternoon.
That total is up from 501 yesterday – and from 411 on August 31.
Across Scotland there were 267 newly-confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. As with yesterday, the Scottish Government warned that the true figure could be higher, as data from some UK lab sites is backlogged. It said work was "under way to urgently address this issue".
The national figures also showed that there were 51 people being treated for recently-confirmed Covid-19 in Scottish hospitals last night. Of those, six were in intensive care.
Sadly, one more person has also passed away following a positive test for the virus.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were once again no new cases of the virus detected in NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar.
NHS Grampian added 16 cases overnight, to bring its cumulative total to 2042.
And NHS Tayside recorded 12 new positive tests, for a running tally of 2225.
There have now been 23,283 confirmed cases of the coronavirus across Scotland since the beginning of the pandemic.
