Highland GP Andrew McFarlane arrested over online posts about his son’s rape victim Ellie Wilson, it is understood he has been released and is due to appear in court at a later date

A Highland GP has been arrested after claims he engaged in a campaign of online “abuse” of the woman his son was convicted of raping twice.

Dr Andrew McFarlane was said to have taken to social media over a period of months to make unsubstantiated accusations against Ellie Wilson.

The evangelical Christian GP maintained that there had been a miscarriage of justice in the case against his son and a number of other allegations so serious we will not print them.

They can, however, be characterised as attacks on her integrity, morality, character and behaviour as well as posting numerous pictures of her

Dr McFarlane’s son, Daniel, was convicted at trial in 2022 of raping Ellie Wilson and was jailed for five years.

Ms Wilson, who has since become a campaigner for survivors of sexual violence, confirmed that police told her that “he has been arrested and charged with communication offences.”

Ellie Wilson has said she ‘fears for her safety’ after her rapist’s father posted online about her.
