Highland events businesses have just days left to apply for Covid-19 funding

Businesses in the Highlands and across Scotland have only until next Monday to apply for a share of a £6 million fund aimed at helping the events sector cope with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Scottish Government's Pivotal Event Businesses Fund has been re-opened for applications, but qualifying businesses have just until 5pm on Monday, January 18, to express interest and begin the application process.
Delivered by VisitScotland, the £6 million fund is open to event businesses whose primary role as organisers, suppliers, contractors and venues is critical to the survival of the events sector in Scotland, and which the wider events industry and supply chain are most reliant on for their own business and operations.
Funding will be prioritised towards businesses that can demonstrate they play a pivotal role across the events industry in Scotland and are in financial difficulty as a direct result of Covid-19.
Applicants can apply for grants from £25,000 up to a maximum £150,000.
The fund has re-opened temporarily for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to allow businesses who were unable to complete the process due to the festive holiday period, the opportunity to apply.
Businesses and other organisations which have already submitted an unsuccessful EOI will not be eligible to re-apply.
Organisations which meet or exceed the eligibility criteria will then be assessed to represent a sectoral and geographical spread of the most significant event organisers, suppliers and venues operating in Scotland.
Successful organisations will then be asked to submit a full application.
