Highland Business Week: Region has a chance to build on business strengths and grow
A Highland Business Award is a highly coveted recognition of achievement. With 11 accolades, they recognise excellence from businesses of every size and across every sector.
Each year, over one hundred applications are submitted to organisers Inverness Chamber of Commerce and the calibre of those entries is a testament to the innovation and diversity that exists across our business landscape.
The Highland Business of the Year award is the final award of the afternoon and can’t be entered for. It is chosen from amongst the winners of the other 10 categories and is presented to the business that the judges feel has demonstrated the most success across the awards.
The award is sponsored by Balfour Beatty.
Hector MacAulay MBE, managing director of our regional business in Scotland, said: “Balfour Beatty has been operating in Scotland for over a century. Today, the company employs 2,000 people across Scotland and works with a supply chain that includes a substantial proportion of local businesses.
“Balfour Beatty is committed to delivering on its principle of social impact in Scotland and we work closely with our customers to deliver real, tangible social value to the communities in which we operate. For this reason we are delighted to sponsor this award as part of this local Highlands’ community.”
The principal sponsor for the Highland Business Awards is once again The Highland Council as it continues to show its support for the entrepreneurial spirit across the region which contributes so much to the local economy.
Councillor Ken Gowans, Highland Council chair of the economy and infrastructure committee, said: “Highland has many strengths and opportunities – internationally recognised cultural and regional heritage; an unparalleled natural environment; low crime; vibrant communities and strong local identities; positive public, community and voluntary sector partnerships; established tourism, hospitality, agriculture and aquaculture industries; and growth potential in newer sectors in the green and blue economies, renewable energy, land use and natural capital.
“The council is delighted to be a principal sponsor of the Highland Business Awards, recognising the shared focus and ambitions we have with the Chamber in working with leaders across sectors to build on our strengths and to embrace the opportunities for sustainable growth for Inverness and the wider Highland region.”
The Highland Business Awards will take place at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness, on Friday, September 27, and are the climax of Highland Business Week 2024 which runs from Monday, September 23, to Friday, September 27.
The busy programme of events, networking opportunities and seminars includes the Highland Spotlight business exhibition at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel on Tuesday, September 24. More than two thirds of the stands have now been reserved for the Highlands’ biggest dedicated business-to-business exhibition.
