LIBRARY internet users in Caithness are set for a pleasant surprise when they re-open on Tuesday morning after Easter as every computer will be brand new.

High Life Highland, which runs all of Highland Council’s libraries, have carried out a £200,000 programme to replace all their computers and upgrade their systems.

Forty Highland Council libraries (with the exception of Knoydart) have over 130 computers available for use, initially provided through a lottery-funded government programme, "the People’s Network".

Users, who use the computers for free either as a full library member, temporary member or as a visitor will be able to surf the internet even quicker after a move which some say is long overdue.
