MANY who waited patiently to have their lockdown locks snipped will be delighted with the current phase of the Scottish Government's plan allowing hairdressing salons to reopen.

At Angela's hair salon, in Back Bridge Street in Wick, proprietor Angela Sutherland and employee Amanda Bruce were busy working away on two customers this morning.

"We're trying to accommodate all our regular customers first."

"I came down from Thurso every Thursday normally," said Jenny, who would certainly be defined as a "regular customer".

She said: "I've got a face shield on and customers have to come in with their masks on. The gowns on customers are taken in the back once we're done with them. We also use hand sanitiser and everything is sterilised after."

Angela said she is working flat out for six days a week and trying to accommodate as many customers as possible but admits that it's hard with restrictions on numbers entering the salon.

"We're doing new flooring and new seated areas inside. Everything is done according to the government advice and it's looking really good."
