A VIBRANT sweep of colour has taken over the walls of Dunnet Bay Distillers' tasting room in its first art exhibition.

The artwork on display in this show – Inspired by Gin – has been created by Caithness artists including Joanne Kaar, Hannah Cambridge, Lisa Poulsen, Debbie Lee, Liz O'Donnell, Helen Moore, Lisa Weller and Lindsey Gallacher as well as others from the north Highlands including Sue Jane Taylor and Ian Westacott.

Work in the exhibition also comes from further afield in Scotland with creations from legendary artists such as Richard Demarco and the late Ian Hamilton Finlay.

The artwork includes paintings, textiles, glass, wood and much more. The tasting room being a perfect cosy space to contemplate the work and perhaps buy one as a Christmas present.

All of the artwork featured in the exhibition has been inspired by and is connected to the theme of Inspired by Gin. This theme has been interpreted by the 29 artists featured in the exhibition in a variety of different ways from the botanicals used to make Rock Rose gin, to the landscape of Caithness or the history of gin. Most of the work on display in the exhibition is for sale.

Claire Murray, co-founder of Dunnet Bay Distillers, said: “We have long celebrated our local heritage and provenance through the spirits we create and have also put the spotlight on local artists through our Creative Collection series.

"Hosting an Inspired by Gin exhibition felt like a natural next step for us and one we hope will prove very popular with our visitors, both from Caithness and the Highlands and those who pass through Dunnet on the North Coast 500."

The Inspired by Gin exhibition is free to browse and runs until March 28, 2020. The gallery is open from Monday to Friday, 10am until 5pm.

The distillery is closed from December 20, 2019 until January 6, 2020.
