The publishers of the John O’Groat Journal and Caithness Courier are running a readers’ calendar photography competition to showcase the county in all four seasons.

It gives another opportunity to promote the rich pool of photographic talent that exists in the area.

This was amply illustrated in the range and number of entries last year.

Spectacular images from across Caithness included a magnificent aurora over Loch Calder by David Proudfoot, puffins at Duncansby Head by Rachael Buckett, a Watten harvest scene by Paul Simonite, a wintry view of Dunbeath harbour by John Knowles, an evening landscape at Scrabster harbour by Richard Wood, a stormy sea at Crosskirk by Ian Cameron and Thrumster woods in spring by Fiona Mackay.

We are sure our readers will again rise to the challenge of seeking to have their images chosen for North of Scotland Newspapers’ 2021 calendar. From your entries, we’ll choose the 12 images that will be used to illustrate the calendar, with the overall winning entry being given pride of place on the front cover.

HOW TO ENTER:

Email your best shots as high-resolution jpg files (minimum 2MB), caption them with the location and send your name and phone number to editor@nosn.co.uk with the words “Readers’ calendar competition” in the subject line.

Entries must be submitted by Friday, September 25.

By taking part, you’ll be in with a chance of having your photo included in the calendar and receiving a free copy of the final product, which will be on sale later this year.

All those whose pictures are selected for inclusion will receive a copy of this year’s Caithness photo book as well as a calendar.
