A special Fun Day is happening at Wick Harbour on Sunday (October 2) from 10am thanks to a group of local yacht enthusiasts.

Wick Yachties will be hosting the event and there will be the chance to find out about the pleasures of yachting and witness some of the boats undertake a race from Wick Bay to Sinclair's Bay.

The event is free and will continue into the afternoon. George Durrand, who skippers CD Venture, acted as spokesperson for Wick Yachties and said: "People can come along and have a conversation with the yacht owners to see if it's something they'd be interested in. They can go on board and see inside the boats.

"A lot of people seem to think we sit in the harbour but I went over to Norway and stayed there for a month while others have travelled around to the west coast." George's boat is a two-sailed Beneteau oceanis clipper and will be just one of the yachts on display this Sunday. "All are welcome and people can just stand up on the brae to see the race if they want," he added.
