Fraud cash will be repaid in summer, Wick court told
A woman who cheated an elderly man out of £14,000 will have repaid all of the cash by July this year, Wick Sheriff Court was told this week.
Fiona Taylor originally admitted defrauding Albert Millington of £40,000 but the figure was subsequently reduced to £14,000. She befriended the 88-year-old and persuaded him to give her the money to invest in a café business at Wick Airport and buy her a car.
Taylor (66) gambled away some of the cash.
Mr Millington died intestate last year and the repayments of £500 have continued to be lodged with Taylor’s solicitor, Sylvia Maclennan.
The court was told that once the accused has cleared the compensation of £14,000, the cash will be transferred to Mr Millington’s daughter.
Taylor was living in Glamis Road, Wick, during the case, which has been before the court for three years, but returned to her native Orkney last year and is living at Seafield, Finstown.
