NHS Highland health board area registers detection of 14 further Covid-19 coronavirus infections

FOURTEEN new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across the NHS Highland health board area in the past day.

The region’s cumulative number of positive tests increased from 4568 to 4582 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm.

Thirty people were being treated for the virus in NHS Highland hospitals last night – down two. And six of those were in intensive care, a figure unchanged since yesterday.

Across Scotland there were 655 fresh positive tests for Covid-19.

Some 1076 people were in Scottish hospitals last night with recently diagnosed coronavirus – 65 fewer than the previous day.

Of those, there were 93 people in intensive care. This was down by six.

But sadly a further 56 people who tested positive in the previous 28 days have died from the virus.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, the Northern Isles once again registered no fresh positive tests.

NHS Eileanan Siar detected four new infections – taking its tally to 262.

A dozen new cases were identified in NHS Grampian, which has now recorded 13,338.

And NHS Tayside’s overall total increased to 12,967 after it registered 29 new positive tests

There have been 198,839 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Scotland since the pandemic began.

Some 1,465,241 people have now received their first vaccination dose – almost 20,000 up on the previous day.
