44 new Covid cases logged in NHS Highland area over past 24 hours

A TOTAL of 44 more Covid-19 cases have been confirmed across the NHS Highland area over the past 24 hours.

Scottish Government daily statistics also reveal a seven-day total for the Highland area of 264 cases.

A total of 1307 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported across the country.

20,393 new tests for the virus reported results and 9.3 per cent of these were positive

Sadly, 76 new reported deaths of people who tested positive were also recorded.

A total of 159 people are in intensive care with recently confirmed Covid-19.

The figures show that 2085 people are in hospital with recently confirmed infections.

In better news, there were no new infections logged in the Western Isles or Orkney.

But there were two more in Shetland.

Exactly 100 more cases were recorded in Grampian over the same period.

The biggest single-day rise was in Greater Glasgow and Clyde where there were 382 more cases.

And 380,667 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination - with 5188 having received their second dose.
