The opening of the Forss River for the 2025 season took place on Tuesday, on a cold and overcast morning.

Piper Alasdair Miller led a group of almost 30 anglers from the Forss House Hotel down to the Brogie Pool on the river, where seasoned angler Pat Quinn poured a small quaich of whisky into the water to toast the opening of the 2025 season.

Alan Youngson, Caithness District Salmon Fishery Board scientific consultant, made the opening cast.

Eddie McCarthy, consultant to the Forss River, wished all anglers “tight lines” for the 2025 season.
