A FORMER Wick High School pupil has been struck off as a GP after it was proved he pursued and engaged in an emotional and sexual relationship with a vulnerable patient.

Gordon Carter has been erased from the medical register by the General Medical Council after a tribunal found charges against him was proved.

He originally denied 'pursing' a sexual relationship with the patient, who has a history of mental health problems, between January and August last year.

However the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel found there was enough evidence to prove that he and the patient believed they had a genuine and lasting relationship.

Dr Carter, who has worked as a GP at the Bydand Medical Group in Huntly for 24 years, was a student at Wick High School between 1975 and 1981 and was named school dux in 1980.

He has 28 days to appeal the decision.
