FOUR fire engines have had to deal with a blaze at a property in Thurso. The fire started in a shed and spread to a nearby car port but the adjoining house at Ormlie Hill was not damaged, according to a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Service in Dundee.

He said four engines – two from Thurso and two from Wick – attended the outbreak on Tuesday night and used hose reels and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.

"All people at the property were accounted for and got out of the building. The car port roof collapsed and the loft area of the house was checked for fire spread but there was no damage to the house. We got the call at 20.59 on Tuesday night and the teams were stood down at seven minutes past midnight," added the spokesman.
