A driver who was clocked by police at 81 mph on a Caithness road was fined £150 at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Bibianna Aldrick, of Mayfield Road, Thurso, also incurred three penalty points after she pleaded guilty to exceeding the 60 mph limit, bringing the total on her licence to nine points – three points shy of an automatic six-month driving ban.

The offence occurred on a straight stretch of the A9 where it skirts Loch Rangag, on May 7.

The court was told that Aldrick (27) required her licence for her work and had been warned by her employer "in no uncertain terms" that a further road traffic conviction would cost her her job.
