A teenage driver who was found to be more than four times over the drug-driving limit was fined £265 at Wick Sheriff Court last week.

Unemployed Rhys Dodd was also banned from driving for a year after he pleaded guilty.

Police stopped Dodd on the A836 at Forss after becoming concerned about the way he was driving, on July 19, last year.

The officers suspected that the 19-year-old might be under the influence of drugs and the accused tested positive. A follow-up test revealed a reading of 9mcg – the legal limit is 2mcg – for the cannabis-based drug, Delta-tetrahydrocannabinol.

Solicitor Neil Wilson said that Dodd, of Central Beach, Lytham, Lancashire, had learned his lesson.
