A COMPETITOR in this year's Strictly Inverness is bringing his fundraising exploits to Caithness next month.

Grant Hodgson was inspired to sign up for the annual event after one of his close friends finished third in last year's competition.

All 16 couples taking part have no dancing experience and spend an intensive 16 weeks training at least three times a week with professional tutors learning and perfecting two individual dances and one group dance.

On top of this they also have to raise as much money for charity as possible.

This is when Grant had the idea to take his fundraising north and on Friday, February 14 there will be a Valentine's Vinyl Revival disco held at the Royal British Legion in Thurso.

"Vinyl Revival nights are proving to be very popular, not only for those who lived through the music at the time but with the younger generation too," Grant said.

"It's an excuse to let your hair down and party the night away to your favourite tunes from the ’60s through to the ’90s."

Tickets are on sale now, priced at only £10 either from the Legion in Thurso or online at www.wegottickets.com with proceeds from all ticket sales going to Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.
