A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a 29-year-old man was found at North Head near Wick shortly after 3.20pm on Thursday, July 2.

"The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."

Coastguard personnel and Wick lifeboat were observed at the scene for several hours yesterday.

Police barrier tape sealed off a section of the coastline, from a point close to the Soldiers' Tower monument to beside the sewage treatment works on the edge of the headland.
