More than £500 has been handed over to representatives of the Caithness General Hospital League of Friends by the organisers of the farmers' ball which has been discontinued after 70 years.

Treasurer Lorette Mackay received the cheque for £510.78 from Peter Mackay, Will Gunn, Benny Mackay and Tommy Sinclair, long-standing members of the Caithness Farmers Dance Committee. The dance used to raise thousands of pounds for local charities.
