Sir – I would like to thank you for covering the story of my nephew, Michael McNeill, and the charity dance I organised.

Michael was so well known in Wick, everyone that attended the dance was just so generous, even people that could not attend contributed in some way.

I would like to thank Willie Oliphant for providing the fantastic music for the night – Willie you did Michael proud because, as you know, you were his favourite singer and it would not have been so special without you. Also Donald Ross for capturing the whole night on DVD – thanks mate, you did me proud.

I would like to thank Willie and Glynis Mackay for their great input to the auction – thanks guys, I could not have done it without your guidance.

Also, the Francis Street Club for all its backing on this and the special friendship it had with Michael through bingo and our Saturday nights out.

I would like to thank local businesses for donating such fabulous items for my auction and everyone at the dance for giving your hard-earned money to the Ann Conroy Trust which has now got a grand total of £2644.83.

This has, as you can imagine, overwhelmed all the family and I will find out what it will spend that huge amount on.

My other thank you is to my family – I just cannot get over how much this has affected us as a family to have that bond, which will never ever fade; Mum and Dad for all your guidance throughout my life and sticking by me through this – thanks from the bottom of my heart.

My sister Catherine who has given me the chance to be a loving auntie and we will always have our memories of Mike; Kevin and David for being so understanding and for being there for me, through all the laughter and tears.

But my last thank you has got to be for Michael – thank you for the time we shared through good and bad, you are always with me and of course your dad too, I love and miss you both.

My friend, Ann Mackay, recently climbed Braeriach in the Cairngorms for charity. She gave me a cheque for £120 for my charity and the rest went to Macmillan nurses.I was so grateful and so honoured she would do this for me.

Margaret Macleod,

17 Macrae Street,

Wick.
