Family fun at Lyth Art Centre’s Christmas shows
Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) is bringing festive magic back to Caithness this December with the return of its much-loved family Christmas show.
This year, the award-winning Edinburgh theatre company Tortoise in a Nutshell is back with Una Imagines, a brand-new winter story for children and families.
The show follows Una, a young girl with a big imagination, on her walk home from school. As she dreams up adventures involving pet giraffes, trips to the circus and even journeys into space, the world around her fills with wonder and possibility. Expect a gentle, playful mix of puppetry, sound and stunning visuals, perfect for sparking imaginations, big and small.
LAC’s marketing manager, Calvin Wilson, said: “Our kids’ Christmas theatre show really has become a staple of the LAC programme and we’re over the moon to be welcoming Tortoise in a Nutshell once again!
“Anyone who saw ‘Ginger’ back in 2022 will know how fantastic these guys are, and we cannot wait to share this new festive offering.”
The company will deliver a mix of public and school shows across 10 days. There are four public shows to choose from in December:
Sat 6th @ 10.30am: lytharts.org.uk/event/una-imagines-2/
Sat 6th @ 2pm: lytharts.org.uk/event/una-imagines/
Fri 12th @ 3pm: lytharts.org.uk/event/2025-12-12/
Sat 13th @ 10.30am: lytharts.org.uk/event/2025-12-13/
Una Imagines has been created with children aged four to eight years in mind, though younger and older children are also very welcome. Families know their little ones best, so everyone is encouraged to come along and enjoy the show together.
Discounted family tickets for up to five people are available, and early booking is encouraged as spaces are limited.
