Exam results are “hugely encouraging” according to Caithness, Sutherland and Ross MSP
Caithness, Sutherland and Ross MSP Maree Todd has congratulated pupils in the region as they receive their exam results.
Around 145,000 students across Scotland have achieved a wide range of results across National 4 and 5s, Highers and Advanced Highers.
These results have ensured that a record number, 31,220, Scottish students will be going to university this September – this includes a 12 per cent increase in students from more deprived areas.
Commenting, Maree Todd MSP said: “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to every student in Caithness, Sutherland and Ross as they receive their exam results.
“This group of young people have had a difficult educational journey due to the pandemic, so they should be extremely proud of their achievements.
“It is hugely encouraging to see a record number of young Scots also going to university, especially a record number from deprived communities, demonstrating the progress the SNP Government is making towards widening access to higher education.
“I would also like to encourage any young person who is unsure of what their results mean for their future to get in touch with the fantastic support offered by Skills Development Scotland, who will be able to provide advice on finding jobs and understanding higher education opportunities.”
Pupils who are unsure about what their results mean for them are also being encouraged to contact Skills Development Scotland on 0808 100 8000 who will be able to provide advice on future career options.
