End-to-end record claimed by electric car duo

AN Orcadian and an Aberdonian moved at an electric pace to break the John O’Groats and Land’s End record for completing the famous end-to-ender in an electric car.

Jonathan Porterfield and Chris Ramsey broke the previous record by seven hours when they arrived at Land's End in a time of 28 hours 38 minutes.

The record didn’t stand very long as they turned around and headed back north, completing the 874 mile journey in 27 hours 47 minutes.

The pair only stopped to recharge the battery of their electric Nissan Leaf at charger points across the UK.

They have now submitted their times to the Guinness Book of World Records.
