Empty homes have image problem despite massive waiting list

ALMOST 400 people are currently on a waiting list to move into council or affordable housing in Caithness.

However a number of properties have been empty for over a year as Highland Council have received no applications for certain properties due to where they are based.

Figures from the Highland Council have revealed 390 people are currently on a waiting list for affordable housing in the county.

However, reasons for properties remaining empty for over 12 months have included some homes being based in undesirable locations.
