Emergency services rescue surfer at Farr Bay





Coastguard teams and a search and rescue helicopter helped rescue a surfer who got into difficulties in the Farr Bay area on Friday, December 27.

Lifeboat crews from Thurso RNLI station were also called out at around 2.40pm to help the surfer, however, they were stood down when they arrived at around 3.30pm after a SAR helicopter recovered the casualty.

According to a post on the Thurso RNLI Facebook page, the surfer was then handed over to an ambulance where he was treated for minor injuries, with shore-based Coastguard teams also assisting in the operation.

The lifeboat crew then returned to Scrabster where its vessel was refuelled and made ready for service at 4.30pm.
